Why is there a wavelike distortion of vision in one eye?
The wavelike distortion of vision definitely means an oedema or retinal detachment. Even with the minor detachment the brain perceives the object information on different distances. And here comes the wavelike distortion. It also may occur in case of retinal detachment.
If you notice an object distortion as a a wavelike image it is a reason for immediately consulting an ophthalmologist.
Sometimes even unexperienced doctors are not able to distinguish double vision and wavelike vision when making a diagnosis.
Double vision of an object’s outline is a sign of astigmatism.
Wavelike vision is a sign of retina pathology, its oedema or detachment.
